Deven's first trip to the zoo!

We took Deven to the zoo last Saturday. It was a very beautiful day and a little rainy. Lee and I had lots of fun and Deven slept through most of it so I'm guessing he enjoyed himself too. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Here is Deven in front of the Meerkat exhibit. Deven doesn't like having the sun in his eyes.

2 months!

Deven's two month birthday was yesterday! We went to the doctor for his well-baby check-up. He weighs 12lbs and is in the 60th percentile for weight. He is 23.75 inches long and is in the 80th percentile for length. He's a healthy growing boy! He also had his immunizations yesterday. Yikes! Mommy needed more hugs than Deven did. We also had family pictures taken yesterday and Deven did well. He's a tough little boy.

He's been smiling for a few weeks now and I've tried really hard to get a picture of his smile. I finally got some on Tuesday! Deven's waking hours are spent with his mommy trying to make him smile. He melts my heart every time! Enjoy the pictures.

Update

It has been a very busy past couple of weeks. We moved into our new home and we're really enjoying it so far. I will post pictures once the house is organized. In other big news, Lee got a promotion at work! So, we have a new baby, new home, and new job. Lots of blessings!

It has been an adjustment being the only one home with Deven. I don't have my in-laws sitting in the next room to hold him while I go shower. Thankfully, they are still close by and more than willing to watch him when I need to get something done. I don't know how my Mom and Mother-in-law survived so many moves in the Air Force with babies and without family/friends nearby.
I never got around to posting pictures of Deven's room while we lived with Dennis and Celeste. I love Yosemite National Park. It is my favorite place in the world so I made it the theme of Deven's room. Lee took pictures while we were in Yosemite and we hung them in his room. My sister Meagan made the letters below and my Mom and Celeste made the bedding and curtains. Black bears are also prevalent in his room.

Every March our church has a basketball tournament. Lee's team was named the "Hot Wings". Some friends and I made t-shirts to cheer our team on and I made one for Deven too. Lee's team won all three of their games!
Here is our first family Easter picture.

Motherhood

Deven has had a fussy spell the last three nights. Around 7 o'clock he starts crying and doesn't stop until about 10 o'clock when he eats and then falls asleep. We've been thinking he's just tired and can't fall asleep. I've been reading a book that gave helpful hints on getting babies to sleep so tonight I tried some of the books suggestions.

After his six o'clock feeding, I gave him a bath and he really enjoyed it. Probably because I actually got the water warm. I've been afraid of burning him so the water has been a little chilly but not tonight. Deven christened me into motherhood on our way from the tub to the changing table necessitating a complete wardrobe change, undergarments and all. I'm amazed at how much his little bladder can hold. After I diapered and dressed him, I put him into his snuggle suit, waited until he yawned and then put him to bed. He cried for about 5 minutes, so I went back in there and gave him a big hug because I felt bad. Then I put him back in the bassinet and sat close by so he could see me. He stared at me as he fell asleep and he seemed to keep his eyes open just a crack to make sure I was still there. He took about ten minutes to fall asleep and at 9:00 pm he is still asleep! I'm sure all you moms understand how awful it is to hear your baby cry and not be able to soothe him. I am on cloud 9 knowing that I was able to give my son what he needed. I am really enjoying being Deven's mom.

I think Lee can do the bath tomorrow night so he can be christened into fatherhood.

Cloth Diapers

We began using our cloth diapers a couple of days ago! We were given lots of newborn disposable diapers at showers so we have been using those up. After changing the first cloth diaper, I was dunking it in the toilet to rinse it off and I flushed the toilet with the diaper in there. Unfortunately, the flush sucked the insert out of the diaper and we now have 23 inserts instead of 24. Haha. Hopefully it has not hindered my in-laws plumbing system. Right now, the cloth diapers are in the washer and I'm still excited about using them. The best part about them is that Deven looks super cute wearing them.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy! Deven is wearing a cloth diaper in the last picture.

Two Weeks Old

Deven turned two weeks old on Sunday! He now weighs 8lbs 10oz and is working on holding his head up. Right now he is in his swing trying to wake up or go to sleep. I'm not sure which. When he is in this in-between stage, his forehead wrinkles and his neck extends with the effort of opening his eyes. It's a pretty cute face and I've had a hard time getting a photo of it.

We closed on our house yesterday. We are officially homeowners! It is a wonderful house. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a loft, and really big windows. The location is probably the best part about the house. It is very close to two highways and only 10 minutes from Lee's work. Plus, good school district.

I was trying to figure out a way to control who can read our blogspot. Blogspot has a way to have people login using their email. So, you probably got an email from me last week saying that you were invited to read my blog. I didn't realize until after I sent that email that you had to have a gmail account in order to read the blog past one month. I decided that was silly to make everyone get a gmail account just to read my blog so I got rid of that feature. Just thought I would let you know why you don't have to log in to read the blog.

Here are some pictures of Deven on his two week birthday.
Deven is with his Nonna in the first picture and working really hard to hold up his head! The last three photos are just some funny faces Deven makes. After he eats, he often purses his lips as he is doing in the last picture. Enjoy!
